At Last! Our Brand New Website

Welcome to the BBC Big Band’s brand new home on the World Wide Web.  For many years anyone trying to find out about or follow the BBC Big Band’s activities would have found this extremely difficult.

But no more – as the BBC Big Band finally has its very own online home.  On you can read about the band’s history, browse some great photos, check out where the band is due to perform next and most importantly, hear the music of this great band.

The past few months have been testing times for the BBC Big Band since the demise of Big Band Special after 34 years of weekly broadcasts on BBC Radio 2.  But the band is still very much alive and kicking with a healthy list of forthcoming concerts over the summer.   These include August appearances at London’s Canary Wharf and the Snape Proms in Aldeburgh.  On Saturday 19 July the band will also be appearing at Pacific Quay in Glasgow for a special Commonwealth Games performance with funk music legend Maceo Parker to be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3’s Jazz Line Up.

Later in the year the BBC Big Band will also be performing in concert for BBC Radio 2 – details to follow in the coming weeks.  Make sure you check back regularly for news of these and other exciting blog posts – including Jay Craig’s recollections of the BBC Big Band’s recent gruelling trip to the snow-capped peaks of that most picturesque of tax havens, Andorra.

You can also now keep up with the band via Twitter – – and whatever you do – spread the word – the BBC Big Band is still very much here!
